 RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND INTERESTS

Synthesis and processing of ceramic and composite materials. Characterizations and

properties evaluations of and ceramics, metallic and nonmetallic materials using EDAX,

SCM, DSC, ARC and XRD techniques. I possess over 7.0 years of extensive Hands On experience in Thermal Spray of Metals. Ceramics, Cermets. Polymers and Composite Materials. I also possess hands on experiences in development of New Ceramic Composite Materials for Thermal Spray and post spray processing of coating materials. I have performed morphological and compositional analysis of Thermal Sprayed Materials by Metallography. SEM. EDAX and XRD Techniques. I have set up Coating Laboratory in Plasma Technology Inc. starting from designing and purchasing coating

Equipments, installations and operations of these P A VD and microscopy equipments. Plasma processing of materials, high temperature coatings of turbine blades, characterizations and corrosion evaluation of MCrAIY alloy. Thin and bulk films deposition of materials, composite and intermetallic materials processing and applications, nano-structure materials, C-C composite densification by PECVD, Plasma sintering of ceramic materials, Surface modification of materials by chemical vapor deposition (CVD), physical vapor deposition(PVD), plasma assisted CVD (p ACVD), plasma assisted PVD (P APVD), ion beam enhanced deposition of thin films, mechanical

properties of thin films, performance evaluations of materials at high temperature, i.e. oxidation/corrosion behavior of metals and alloys, structure-properties correlations, near net shape components by Low pressure plasma sys. (LPPS).

 ACHIEVEMENTS SUMMARY

1. Over 100 journal and book articles, 16 U. S. Patents, several awards for inventions and technical papers, editor of five (I,) conference proceedings, over 50 invited talks in the USA and overseas, member of numerous organizing committee and chairperson of the Several international conferences, and over 50 session chairmanships at the international conferences.

1) Teledyne Corporation: Development of Cathode for Industrial and Medical Gas Sensors:

deposition of ultrathin film (1000-1500 0 A) of Au, Rh and Ag directly on 1 mil thick teflon

film.(the cathode initial test is successful and more samples will be tested)

2) AMPTEK Inc.:Development of Detector for AMPTEK Corporation: To deposit Cr/Til Al on

Silicon substrate (these parts were tested and found to be successful. Further production quantities and price under discussions)

3) Johnson & Jonson: Research project on development of sensor for hospital application.

4) Exeldyne Inc.: Development of Ceramic Coating on Valve for Racing Car by PVD thin fun deposition.

5) Cosworth Racing, U.K.: Research and development project with HITCO and COSWORTII

Racing Company in U.K for development ofC-C composite Valve and ceramic coating.

6) E. D. DuPont: Development of Ultra High Temperature (1400 °C) corrosion resistance Ceramic Coating
